Chesapeake, VA (July 27, 2021) – One person is dead and three others, including two children, are seriously injured after an accident that happened Saturday afternoon, July 24, in the Chesapeake area.

According to a police spokesperson with the Chesapeake Police Department, officers responded to a report of an accident that occurred around 2:30 p.m in the 2100 block of Ballahack Road, which is located in a rural area in the southern part of the city. When they arrived on the scene, they found that two cars were involved.

One of the vehicles, a white Dodge sedan, was flipped over in a ditch. The driver of that car was badly injured and members of both the Chesapeake Fire and Police Departments attempted life-saving measures on the man, though he ultimately died at the scene. The man has since been identified as 57-year-old Christopher Antonio Eaton.

The other vehicle involved was a black Honda SUV. A man and his two grandchildren were inside the vehicle and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Ballahack Road was closed in both directions while the investigation was underway. The investigation is being conducted by the police department’s CRASH team, and they have not released further details at this time.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Christopher Antonio Eaton. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
