Chesapeake, VA – Man Injured in Two-Car Crash on Rte 58 WB

Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Chesapeake, VA (July 7, 2021) – Officers with the Chesapeake Police Department are investigating a crash that left one victim injured on Wednesday afternoon, July 7.

Authorities were dispatched to the scene around 4:00 p.m. and say that the incident occurred in the westbound lanes of Route 58 near the airport. EMS also responded to the scene of the two-vehicle accident with injuries that happened around, finding that one of the involved vehicles was in the tree line.

The driver of one of the vehicles needed assistance and was extricated from his vehicle by the fire department. He was taken to a local hospital via ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other people involved in the accident sustained only minor injuries.

The westbound lanes of Route 58 were closed while officers investigated, though no further details have been released. The investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Car Accident Injuries in Virginia

Throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, hundreds of people sustain serious injuries or are killed in traffic-related incidents, from pedestrian accidents to car wrecks and beyond. Unfortunately, these victims and their families pay a huge price after suffering at the hands of a negligent or reckless driver. Hundreds of victims are rushed to area medical centers for emergency medical treatment, major surgeries, and painful procedures, spending days or even weeks and months in recovery. Furthermore, victims often require therapy for emotional trauma, which can be time-consuming and costly. Sadly, not every accident victim is able to recover, leaving grieving families to deal with financial difficulties while attempting to recover from their devastating loss.

To add insult to injury, these accidents are often preventable, which makes the overwhelming consequences families are forced to endure even more painful, particularly since negligent or reckless actions of others are the cause of these accidents. Statistics show that the majority of collisions, more than 80%, are caused by drivers who are distracted, impaired, or engaging in reckless behaviors while operating their vehicles. However, victims and their families may have legal recourse after suffering in a crash that’s occurred through no fault of their own.

If a victim has sustained serious injuries or even died as a result of an accident caused by another driver’s negligence, their families should reach out to a wrongful death attorney in Virginia as soon as possible. Families may be entitled to compensation to help cover their losses and the financial burdens they face moving forward.
