Chesapeake, VA – One Injured in Car Accident at 1000 Volvo Pkwy & Kempsville Rd

Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Chesapeake, VA (June 15, 2021) – At least one victim sustained injuries and almost 5,000 people in the Greenbrier area lost power after a car accident occurred on Tuesday, June 15, in the Chesapeake area

According to officers with the Chesapeake Police Department, the accident happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Volvo Parkway. At that time, an SUV was traveling from Kempsville Road toward Greenbrier Parkway when another car turned left in front of them. The other driver’s failure to yield caused the SUV to swerve off the road and strike a power box.

The SUV driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to an area medical center for further treatment. It’s unclear if the other driver stayed at the scene or sustained injuries. The resulting power outage has affected more than 4,700 Dominion Energy customers, per a statement released by company spokesperson Paula Miller.

The accident remains under investigation at this time, and further details about those involved have not been released.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.

Car Accident Injuries in Hampton Roads

Throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, hundreds of people sustain serious injuries or are killed in traffic-related incidents. From pedestrian accidents to car wrecks and beyond, victims and their families pay a huge price after suffering at the hands of a negligent or reckless driver. Hundreds of victims are rushed to area medical centers for emergency medical treatment, major surgeries, and painful procedures, spending days or even weeks and months in recovery. Furthermore, victims often require therapy for emotional trauma, which can be time-consuming and costly. Sadly, not every accident victim is able to recover, leaving grieving families to deal with financial difficulties while attempting to recover from their devastating loss.

To add insult to injury, these accidents are often preventable, which makes the overwhelming consequences families are forced to endure even more painful, particularly since negligent or reckless actions of others are the cause of these accidents. Statistics show that the majority of collisions, more than 80%, are caused by drivers who are distracted, impaired, or engaging in reckless behaviors while operating their vehicles. However, victims and their families may have legal recourse after suffering in a crash that’s occurred through no fault of their own.

If a victim has sustained serious injuries or even died as a result of an accident caused by another driver’s negligence, their families should reach out to a wrongful death attorney in Virginia as soon as possible. Families may be entitled to compensation to help cover their losses and the financial burdens they face moving forward.
