Car Accidents in Virginia
Each year, more than 800 people lose their lives in motor vehicle accidents across the state of Virginia. Another 65,000 are injured. When people are injured in auto accidents, they often face drastic limitations on their ability to perform various tasks. Although motor vehicle accidents can happen for a variety of reasons, the majority of fatal crashes in our state fall under one of three causes, including:
- Speeding: Speed is a factor in over 37.7% of fatal accidents across our state
- Alcohol use: Over 29.4% of fatal crashes in Virginia involve at least one drunk driver
- Not using a seatbelt: People who do not wear seatbelts account for 52% of fatal crashes throughout our state
There are several things you can do to protect yourself while entering the roads. However, there is no way to guarantee that others will act responsibly. As a result, tens of thousands of people are left with debilitating injuries that cause overwhelming pain and suffer. To add to the struggles and frustration, many victims require medical treatment, hospitalization, and therapy for their injuries that costs tens of thousands of dollars. If you were injured in an accident, due to another motorist’s actions, you should reach out to a car accident attorney in Virginia as soon as possible. You may be entitled to compensation to help cover the financial burdens you face from medical treatment and other expenses.
