Norfolk, VA – Injuries Reported in Multi-Vehicle Wreck on I-64 at Hampton Bridge Tunnel

Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Norfolk, VA (June 6, 2022) – On the evening of Monday, June 6, an accident involving a number of drivers was reported to police in the Norfolk area.

Norfolk Fire & Rescue and the Norfolk Police Department were among those who responded to the collision. A collision happened at 10:50 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, according to emergency responders on the scene. The Norfolk Police Department claimed that all lanes were closed for a lengthy period of time after the collision, despite the fact that the reason for the event is unclear.

At least one victim was transferred to a local medical facility for additional treatment by emergency medical professionals; however, the extent of that victim’s injuries is unclear at this time.

According to the officers’ reports, the investigation into the events leading up to the collision is still underway. The NPD asks that anybody who saw the accident or has information pertinent to the inquiry get in touch with them as soon as possible.

Our sympathies are with those who have been injured, and we hope for a swift and thorough recovery for them.

Vehicle Collisions in the Virginia Commonwealth

According to Virginia Commonwealth academics, around one thousand persons die each year as a consequence of being engaged in motor vehicle accidents. An additional 65,000 individuals have suffered life-threatening injuries as a direct consequence of these accidents.

Those who have been hurt in a vehicle accident may continue to endure emotional or physical pain for a long time, but the severity of their injuries will determine whether or not this is the case. Worse yet, victims who sustain more serious injuries, such as traumatic brain injuries (TBI), extensive fractures or broken bones, spinal cord injuries, or other catastrophic wounds, are more likely to require ongoing medical care. This is because TBIs, extensive fractures or broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and other catastrophic wounds can cause permanent damage.

In addition, the vast majority of automobile collisions are brought on by one of these three behaviors: speeding, driving while distracted, or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There is no guarantee that other drivers will obey traffic regulations or behave appropriately while they are behind the wheel, even if you take every precaution to keep yourself and others safe while driving. This is true even if you take every precaution to keep yourself and others safe while driving.
