Norfolk, VA (August 13, 2021) – Officers with the Norfolk Police Department were on the scene of a serious car accident that occurred on Friday afternoon, August 13, on US Highway 60 at 15th View.

Dispatchers said the first calls about the crash came in at 2:00 p.m. The number of vehicles involved is unknown, but paramedics say that at least one victim was transported to a hospital. Medical authorities didn’t provide information about other injured victims, though they appeared to treat multiple people at the scene after taking the other victim to an area medical center via ambulance.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and officers did not share further details about the events leading up to the collision.

Our thoughts are with the victims affected by this wreck, as well as their families. We hope for a full recovery for all injured partes.

Serious Multi-Vehicle Wrecks in Norfolk

Thousands of people are injured or killed in traffic-related incidents throughout the commonwealth of Virginia yearly. Although these accidents are often preventable, we are forced to witness the overwhelming consequences families are forced to endure. Hundreds of victims are rushed to area hospitals after their accidents where they have to undergo emergency medical treatment and spend days or even weeks in recovery. Victims often require therapy for their injuries, which is time-consuming and costly. Unfortunately, not every accident victim is able to recover.

In many cases, the negligent or reckless actions of others are the cause of these catastrophic accidents. Furthermore, statistics show that more than 80% of car accidents are caused by distracted drivers who are texting, talking on their phones, impaired, or engaging in reckless behaviors while operating their vehicles.

When people sustain injuries in accidents caused by the actions of other motorists or even lose their lives as a result of these wrecks, their families should reach out to a Hampton Roads wrongful death attorney as soon as possible. Families may be entitled to compensation to help alleviate the financial burdens they face moving forward.
