Norfolk, VA (January 26, 2022) – Police say an entrance ramp on U.S. Highway 60 was closed after a serious vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday evening, January 26.
Virginia State Police were dispatched to the scene around 9:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles that crashed on the westbound side of Highway 60 at 15th View in Norfolk.
Officers say a person driving a sedan hit the back of another vehicle in the area. VSP authorities added that a third vehicle may have been involved in the incident as well. It’s unclear how many people sustained injuries, though all victims were treated at the scene or transported to an area medical center.
VSP said their investigation is ongoing at this time. They have not provided further details at this time.
Our thoughts are with the victims who were injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
Multi-Vehicle Accidents in Norfolk
Each year, nearly 1,000 people lose their lives in motor vehicle accidents across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Sadly, another 65,000 people suffer serious injuries in these collisions. Victims also continue to suffer from long-term physical problems or emotional trauma long after their wreck. This is especially true if they sustain TBIs, fractures, spinal cord injuries, and other catastrophic injuries.
As a result of these serious accidents, victims face drastic limitations going forward. Although serious motor vehicle accidents can happen for a variety of reasons, the majority of accidents fall under one of three causes. These causes include but are not limited to:
- Speeding: Speed is the main factor in nearly half of fatal accidents occurring in Virginia.
- Drunk driving: Almost 30% of fatal crashes across the state involved at least one driver under the influence.
- Violating traffic laws: Distracted driving, texting behind the wheel, or failing to yield to other drivers.
Even if you strive to protect yourself and others while on the road, you cannot guarantee that others will act responsibly. Unfortunately, tens of thousands of people are left with debilitating injuries after these accidents. Wrecks that are caused by the negligence of another driver can leave victims in devastating circumstances.
Oftentimes, these victims require medical treatment and ongoing therapy lasting for months or years. As a result, victims may pay tens of thousands of dollars out of their own pockets.
Thankfully, if you sustain injuries in an accident that’s occurred through no fault of your own, you may have legal recourse. You and your family can reach out to a car accident attorney in Norfolk. Contacting an attorney in the aftermath of your accident is essential. Plus, you may find that you are entitled to compensation, which can help you cover your financial burdens.
