Portsmouth, VA (March 16, 2021) – One person has lost their life following a collision that led to the arrest of the second driver. On March 13, the Portsmouth Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle on Victory Boulevard in Portsmouth.
The vehicle, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, continued forward without stopping. While proceeding through the intersection of Victory Boulevard and California Road, the vehicle crashed into a 2013 Chrysler 200.
The driver of the Chrysler, 35-year-old Calvin Coolidge Majette III, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a female, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries/
The driver of the Jeep, Ciara Elliot, and her passenger were both transported to a local hospital for treatment. Elliot was subsequently arrested.
At this time, investigations surrounding the accident are underway.
