Suffolk, VA (September 1, 2020) – A construction site accident in the Suffolk area claimed the lives of two workers on Saturday. On August 30, emergency crews from Suffolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake, responded to the scene of an incident on Northgate Commerce Parkway.
Reports provided by local news sources indicate that a crew of workers was working at the future site of the Amazon fulfillment center in Virginia, which is positioned on Northgate Commerce Parkway. As the crew was working at the site, a structural collapse occurred.
Two construction workers were fatally injured in the incident. Crews located both workers deceased at the scene. Emergency personnel spent extensive time at the scene searching for other injured parties. No other persons involved were injured. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
