Virginia Beach Bicycle Accident Fatalities

Each year, hundreds of individuals are killed in traffic-related events in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Despite the fact that these events are often avoidable, the victims and their families continue to endure terrible effects in the aftermath.

When it comes to bicycle accidents, the statistics are even more dismal. According to the most current statistics provided by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, there were approximately 700 collisions between bicycles and motor vehicles in the last year, resulting in over 600 injuries and 13 deaths. More than 1,000 bikers are killed yearly in the United States, and almost half a million more are injured.

It is evident that bikers are among the most vulnerable road users. After their accidents, these victims are often transported to local hospitals, where they may receive emergency surgery or harsh medical care that takes weeks of rehabilitation. In addition, these victims often endure months of time-consuming, expensive physical rehabilitation, in addition to years of treatment for severe mental trauma.
