Virginia Beach, VA (September 3, 2020) – A fire incident sent multiple people to area hospitals in the Virginia Beach area on Wednesday morning. At 1:55 a.m., on September 2, the Virginia Beach Fire Department responded to the scene of a fire incident at the Americas Best Value Inn hotel located on Northampton Boulevard.
Reports show that a fire broke out at the hotel, which is positioned on Northampton Boulevard near Diamond Springs Road, for unknown reasons. Firefighters were called to the scene and immediately began to battle the blaze. One room at the hotel was fully engulfed when crews arrived. The fire began extending to nearby rooms, filling the area with thick smoke. Within 25-minutes, crews declared the fire under control.
Six people inside the hotel were injured. All six victims were rendered aid at the scene by medical technicians. Four injured victims required further medical assistance. All four injured parties were transported via ambulance to area hospitals where they received emergency medical services.
At this time, firefighters in Virginia Beach are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
