Virginia Beach, VA – Multi-Car Collision, Injuries on I-264 at First Colonial Rd

Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Virginia Beach, VA (May 31, 2022) – Officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department were sent to the scene of a car incident on Interstate 264 at the First Colonial Road exit on Tuesday, May 31.

Officers from the VBPD and troopers from the Virginia State Police responded to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 264 at mile marker 23.2 at around 11:15 p.m. This site is just north of First Colonial Road and Exit 21. When the cops arrived, they discovered that two passenger automobiles had collided in the right lanes at the First Colonial off-ramp.

In addition, Virginia Beach medics rushed to the scene and transported all of the injured people to the Virginia Beach General Hospital in an ambulance for additional treatment. Neither the total number of injuries nor the type of those injuries can be ascertained with any confidence at this time.

Authorities are presently examining the circumstances leading up to the tragedy and have not provided any more information at this time. At this moment, the investigation is still underway.

Our sympathies are with those who have been injured as a consequence of this accident. We wish them the best of luck in their recovery.

Virginia Beach Injury Auto Crashes

According to data recently released by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, the number of deaths on Virginia’s roadways in 2021 rose by almost 15% over those in 2020. In addition to these fatalities, data from the previous year indicated that over 160 individuals are wounded every day in Virginia as a consequence of traffic accidents.

Even if accident rates have decreased in certain sections of the nation and in the Commonwealth of Virginia, it is clear that scenarios like these continue to be much too common. Despite the fact that the majority of automobile accidents are preventable and that driver negligence is often to blame, victims who suffer injuries or die as a consequence of a car accident pay a heavy price.

Those who are fortunate enough to survive these life-threatening crashes may have long-term physical difficulties like whiplash and muscle strains, as well as emotional suffering, for months or even years. Because of the severity of their injuries, which may vary from catastrophic scarring or loss of function to spine fractures and traumatic brain injuries, persons who have been wounded in automotive accidents have a difficult road to recovery.

Thousands of people are left with injuries that make it impossible for them to function regularly. To add salt to injury, victims may be forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket while simultaneously negotiating with insurance companies or dealing with uninsured motorists. When victims die as a consequence of their injuries, their heartbroken families are left to pick up the pieces, which may include thousands of dollars in missed wages, leftover hospital bills, and burial expenditures.

On the other hand, if you or a loved one was injured in an accident that wasn’t your fault, you may be able to seek legal remedy. If you or a member of your family has been harmed as a consequence of another motorist’s careless driving, you and your family should contact a car accident attorney in Virginia Beach.
