Car Accident Injuries in Virginia
Recent data released by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles show that almost 1,000 deaths occurred on Virginia’s roadways in 2021, an increase of about 15% compared to 2020. In addition to these fatalities, statistics from the last year indicate that approximately 160 people suffered injuries daily in the Commonwealth of Virginia from traffic accidents.
Though accident rates have declined in some areas nationwide and in Virginia, it’s clear that these incidents are still far too common. And despite the fact that most motor vehicle wrecks are preventable, with driver negligence often to blame, victims who suffer injuries or die in auto accidents pay a steep price.
Those who survive these serious wrecks may cope with long-term physical problems, particularly from whiplash and muscle strains, or emotional trauma for months or years. From spinal fractures and TBIs to catastrophic scarring or loss of function, victims of car accidents face an unbelievably hard road to recovery and face drastic limitations going forward.
Ultimately, tens of thousands of people are left with debilitating injuries after these accidents. What’s more, wrecks caused by the reckless actions of another driver simply add insult to injury. While facing tough negotiations with insurance companies or dealing with uninsured drivers, victims may pay tens of thousands of dollars out of their own pockets. Tragically, when victims succumb to their injuries, their grieving families are forced to pick up the pieces, shelling out thousands to cover lost wages, leftover medical bills, and funerary costs.
However, if you sustain injuries in an accident that’s occurred through no fault of your own or have lost a loved one, you may have legal recourse. When you’ve been affected by the negligence of another motorist, you and your family should reach out to a car accident attorney in Virginia Beach. You may find that you are entitled to compensation, which can help you cover your financial burdens moving forward.
