Virginia Beach, VA (June 15, 2022) – Virginia Beach Police officers were sent to the scene of a car wreck on Interstate 264 at the Witchduck Road exit late Wednesday evening, June 15.
Officers from the VBPD and troopers from the Virginia State Police responded to the westbound lanes of Interstate 264 around mile marker 15.2, just west of Exit 16 to Witchduck Road, at about 11:30 p.m. When the police arrived, they discovered that two passenger vehicles had collided in the right lanes.
In addition, Virginia Beach medics rushed to the site of the wreck and transported all injured victims to the Virginia Beach General Hospital via ambulance for additional treatment. Neither the total number of injuries nor the type of those injuries was provided to the public at this time, however.
Authorities are presently examining the circumstances leading up to the crash and have not released any further information. At this moment, the investigation is still underway.

Virginia Beach Multiple-Car Collisions & Injuries
According to data recently released by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, the number of deaths on Virginia’s roadways in 2021 rose by almost 15% compared to the same time period in 2020. In addition to these fatalities, data from the previous year indicated that over 160 individuals are wounded every day in Virginia as a consequence of traffic accidents.
Even if accident rates have decreased in certain sections of the nation and in the Commonwealth of Virginia, it is clear that scenarios like these continue to be much too common. Despite the fact that the majority of automobile accidents are preventable and that driver negligence is often to blame, victims who suffer injuries or die as a consequence of a car accident pay a heavy price.
Those who are fortunate enough to escape these catastrophic crashes with their lives may have to cope with long-term physical difficulties, including whiplash and muscle strains, as well as mental suffering for a period of months or even years. Because of the severity of their injuries, which may vary from catastrophic scarring or loss of function to spine fractures and traumatic brain injuries, persons who have been wounded in automotive accidents have a difficult road to recovery.
Thousands of victims are left with injuries that make it impossible for them to return to work or even resume their regular routines and day-to-day livelihoods. To add insult to injury, victims may be forced to pay for their damages out of pocket while also trying to negotiate with insurance companies or deal with uninsured motorists. When victims die as a consequence of their injuries, their heartbroken families are left to pick up the pieces, which may include thousands of dollars in missed wages, leftover hospital bills, and burial expenditures.
