Virginia Beach, VA (August 14, 2021) – At least one person was injured in a car accident that occurred on Friday evening, August 13, officials with the Virginia State Police said in a news release.
Officers with the Virginia Beach Police Department were also dispatched to the scene and said that the accident happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 264 just after 9:00 p.m. The incident reportedly occurred near mile marker 15.6, about a quarter of a mile east of Witchduck Road and exit 16.
Four westbound lanes were closed as a result of the incident, and the delay was about one mile long as of 9:30 p.m.
Paramedics were at the scene to transport injured victims, though the total number of individuals involved is unknown. Initial reports indicate that two vehicles were involved and collided in the left lanes of the highway.
Further details have not been released, but police say that their investigation is ongoing. VBPD officers have asked that witnesses or any other person with information about the wreck contact them.
